Privacy Policy

Cramr Tutoring LLC ("Cramr," "we," "us") provides on-demand online mathematics tutoring for K–12 students through cramrtutoring.com and the services reached through it (the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to students, parents and guardians, tutors, tutor applicants, and visitors to the site.

In short: we collect what tutoring needs and nothing more; we do not sell personal information or use it for advertising; sessions are recorded so we can prepare study materials and keep students safe; and you can delete your account at any time.

Information we collect

Account information. Student first and last name, grade level, login email, password (stored only as a hash), timezone, and, for guardian-held accounts, the guardian's name, email, and phone number. For students who hold their own account, a phone number if you choose to receive texts.
Requests and schoolwork. The subject and description of each request, the photos of schoolwork you upload before or during a session, and the times you offer.
Recordings and transcripts. Every session is recorded (audio, video, and whiteboard content) and transcribed.
Learning profile. From each session's materials and transcript we derive a short profile of the student's learning: topics covered, strengths and gaps, how the student prefers to learn, and notes from tutors. It exists to prepare the next tutor and is visible to the assigned tutor and to Cramr.
Payment information. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. Cramr receives only a payment token, the card's last four digits and brand, and the status of each authorization and charge.
Communications. Emails and text messages we exchange with you, delivery records, ratings you submit after a session, and messages sent to support.
Technical information. The IP address and time when you accept the Terms or give consent, cookies described below, and standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, timestamps) kept for security and reliability.
Tutors and applicants. Name, school and field of study, email, phone, date of birth (to verify age 18 or over), subjects, availability, the signed background attestation with its timestamp and IP address, audition recordings and evaluations, a profile photograph, and payout details held by Stripe.
Referrals. If you arrive through a tutor's referral link, we record that link so the tutor can be credited.

What we do not collect. No advertising identifiers, no precise location, no browsing history from other sites, no birthdates or government identifiers from students (grade level only), and no data from analytics trackers, because we run none.

How we use information

To create and secure your account and to sign you in.
To match each request with qualified tutors and to run the session.
To prepare the tutor's preparation packet and the student's study materials. This uses automated systems, including AI models operated by our providers, to read uploaded schoolwork, transcripts, and the learning profile and to draft materials, which are checked before delivery.
To keep students safe: every transcript is reviewed by an automated system for inappropriate content, and anything it flags is reviewed by Cramr staff. Ratings and tutor reports are reviewed the same way. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you solely by automated means.
To charge for sessions under the pricing and cancellation policy you agreed to, and to pay tutors.
To send service messages by email and, if you opt in, by text (see "Your choices").
To respond to support requests and to resolve disputes, including payment disputes.
To operate, secure, and improve the Service, and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models beyond preparing the materials for the session it came from.

Children's privacy

Students in grade 7 or below may use Cramr only through an account created and held by a parent or legal guardian. Students in grade 8 and above may hold their own account. We do not knowingly allow a child under 13 to create an account.
Where a guardian creates the account, the guardian consents to the collection and use described in this policy on the student's behalf. Creating the account and accepting the Terms is that consent.
From students we collect only what tutoring needs: name, grade, the schoolwork they share, the session recording, and the learning profile. We do not condition a student's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary, and we never use a student's information for advertising.
A guardian may review the student's information, ask us to correct it, refuse further collection, or have it deleted at any time by writing to support@cramrtutoring.com or using the account controls. Refusing further collection ends the student's use of the Service.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without a guardian's consent, we delete it promptly.

Cookies

Cramr sets only the cookies the Service needs. None are used for advertising or analytics, and no third party sets cookies through our site.

Sign-in cookies (names beginning sb-) keep you logged in and protect your session. Essential; they expire when the session does.
cramr_last_active records your last activity so we can sign you out automatically after a period of inactivity. Essential; refreshed as you use the site.
cramr_ref is set only when you arrive through a tutor's referral link, so the tutor is credited if you sign up. It lasts 90 days.
Your browser also stores one local flag recording that you dismissed our cookie notice.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; signing in requires the sign-in cookies. Because we use no tracking, we do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" or opt-out signals: there is nothing to opt out of.

Who we share information with

Your tutor. The tutor assigned to a session sees the student's first name, grade, the request, the uploaded schoolwork, the learning profile, and the session recording, for that session. Tutors never see payment details, and students and families never see a tutor's contact details.
Service providers that process information on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments and tutor payouts), Lessonspace (the online classroom, recording, and transcription), Twilio (text messages), Resend (email), Anthropic and, as a backup, OpenAI (generating study materials and safety review), Google (the optional sign-in button), Cloudflare (domain and email routing), and Sentry and Better Stack (reliability monitoring).
Legal and safety. We disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to lawful requests, to protect the safety of a student or any person, or to enforce our Terms.
Business transfers. If Cramr is acquired or merges, information transfers to the successor under this policy, and we notify account holders by email.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep information

Session recordings: 90 days after the session, then deleted.
Uploaded schoolwork photos: 30 days after the study materials are delivered.
Transcripts: 90 days after the session.
Study materials: kept while the account exists, so the student can keep using them.
Account information and the learning profile: while the account exists and for 30 days after a deletion request.
Payment records: for as long as tax, accounting, and payment-network rules require, typically seven years.
Support messages: two years after the ticket closes.
Tutor applications that do not lead to approval: twelve months.
Records connected to an active payment dispute, safety investigation, or legal obligation are kept until the matter closes.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers, access is restricted by role at the database level, administrator access requires a second factor, payment credentials never touch our systems, and every message and job the system sends is logged. No internet service can promise perfect security; we design so that a single failure does not expose your information, and we will notify affected account holders and the authorities of any breach as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

Access and correction. Review and update account information in your account settings, or ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you.
Deletion. Choose Delete account in your account settings, or email support@cramrtutoring.com. We confirm within 2 business days and complete deletion within 30 days. We keep only what the law requires us to keep (payment records, for the period above) and anything connected to an active dispute, investigation, or legal hold, until the matter closes.
Portability. On request we provide your study materials and account information in a common file format.
Text messages. Session texts are part of the Service and are sent to the number on the account once you have agreed to them. Mobile carriers honor a STOP reply; if you stop texts, required notices reach you by email only. Reply HELP for help.
Email. Service emails about your account and sessions are part of the Service and continue while the account exists. We send no marketing email without separate consent.
Referral and profile data. Tutors may ask to be removed from the public roster at any time; students and guardians may ask us to correct or delete the learning profile.
How to exercise these rights. Use the account controls or write to support@cramrtutoring.com from the email on the account. We verify requests, respond within 45 days, and never treat you differently for exercising a right. Where a state law gives you the right to appeal our decision, tell us and a different person will review it.

Recording notice

Every session is recorded and transcribed, and every participant is told so before it begins. Guardians consent on behalf of students in grade 7 or below when they create the account; older students and tutors consent when they accept the Terms. Recordings are used only for the purposes described in this policy and are never published.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how we use your information, we will email account holders at least 14 days before the change takes effect and post the new effective date above. Earlier versions are available on request.
